Graphic Designer


Founded in 1983, the Juste pour rire/Just For Laughs Group is the largest player in the global comedy industry. Under the management of the CH Group, Bell Media and ICM Partners, the company has positioned itself as an international leader in the creation of multi-platform comedy content. Each year, it entertains millions of spectators with its festivals in Canada and other countries, including the world’s biggest comedy event in Montreal as well as in Toronto, Vancouver, Sydney and Bermuda. The Group offers programming featuring thousands of comics from Canada and abroad, including established artists and up-and-coming talent; stages its own comedy shows and musicals; produces touring shows; distributes digital and televised content, such as Just For Laughs: Gags, which airs in 150 countries and is followed by 10 million YouTube users; manages a roster of talented artists; and runs the ComedyPRO and JPR Pro industry conferences.

Juste pour rire / Just For Laughs is a renowned comedy institution that has evolved significantly over the years. Now entering a new era of transformation, it is seeking a graphic designer to handle big and exciting challenges in a stimulating and rewarding work environment. Reporting to the artistic director, he or she will collaborate on creating graphic materials for both traditional and digital media. The graphic designer’s mandate will include all Juste pour rire / Just For Laughs Group platforms, brands and elements.

The ideal candidate will be a fan of comedy, stand-up, art and design. He or she will take pride in a job well done and apply skills and knowledge of current international design trends to execute tasks with precision. Whether working on static or animated visuals, his or her creativity is matched by a love of communicating and producing graphic materials for traditional and digital media, based on requests from all internal teams. Cutting-edge IT tools will be provided to accomplish this work.

Main responsibilities:

  • Developing, adapting and producing graphic communications tools
  • Producing a range of motion design animations
  • Effectively managing the daily workload in order to meet graphics needs by the requested deadlines
  • Efficiently and creatively producing a large volume of advertising materials
  • Handling all stages of graphic layout
  • Producing mock-ups and creating materials in multiple formats
  • Maintaining a big-picture understanding of the work
  • Ensuring follow-up on the completion of projects
  • Contributing, through a creative approach, to the continuing evolution of the Juste pour rire/Just For Laughs Group’s creative products
  • Any other related tasks

Required skills and competencies:

  • Creative, organized and autonomous

  • Excellent organization and time management skills, respect for deadlines and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail

Required qualifications:

  • Diploma in graphic design, animation or an equivalent field
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Experience at an agency and on the client side an asset
  • Fluent in French and English (spoken and written)
  • Good knowledge of the North American cultural sector (French and English)
  • Good knowledge of social media and digital marketing
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud software, including After Effects
  • Knowledge of HTML5
  • Experience in the performing arts industry (especially comedy) an asset
