Salma Hindy

Salma Hindy is a first generation Egyptian-Canadian Comedian. With her fast rise to comedy, Salma has opened for Ken Jeong, Maz Jobrani, Ramy Youssef, Beth Stelling, James Adomian, and has most recently opened for Chelsea Handler on her Peoples Choice Awards Winning Tour: Vaccinated & Horny. She has performed at the Just for Laughs New Faces Festival in Montreal, JFL NorthWest, the SF Sketchfest, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Women in Comedy Festival in Boston, the Chicago Women Funny Fest and the New York Arab-American Comedy Festival. Salma has been featured on the CBC, Globe and Mail, CityNews, Refinery29 and more. She's performed on CBC's Laugh Out Loud, CBC Gem's "New Wave of StandUp" , Comedy Night with Rick Mercer, and CTV’s Stand Up with Jon Dore. She’s performed on Roast Battle Canada, Seasons 1 & 2. She gave a Tedx talk about her emotional journey in comedy titled "Why People Pleasing is Hurting You." Salma's debut comedy album, Born on 9/11 has recently received rave reviews on Hype Magazine, The Star, Comedy Cake, Patron and Pearl and The Manitoban. Salma has her own episode on True Dating Stories where she chronicles going on a blind date chaperoned by her Imam father. In addition to her booming stand up career, Salma is an emerging screenwriter and actress. She currently works in a writers’ room for an Amazon original animated comedy series created by Ramy Youssef, as well as a half-hour dark comedy series in development with CBC. In addition to the above, Salma has her own half-hour comedy series in development with Crave (Bell media).
