Ronny Chieng is a Chinese stand-up comedian and actor born in Malaysia, raised in Manchester, NH and Singapore. After graduating with a dual degree in Law and Commerce from the Univserity of Melbourne, he began performing comedy in 2009. He’s toured 4 sold-out global stand-up tours, performing in Australia, Hong Kong, and Canada to name a few.
Ronny has recorded 4 one-hour stand-up comedy specials since 2012 and has received 7 awards for the specials including Best Comedy Performer at the Helpmann Awards. Ronny moved to NYC after being hired by The Daily Show with Trevor Noah on Comedy Central. He recently appeared on the Tonight Show Starting Jimmy Fallon.
Ronny has performed here at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in 2012, 2013, and 2015. In 2016, he was named one of Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch. He co-created Ronny Chieng: International Student, winning Short Film Production of the Year at the Screen Producers Australia Awards among other nominations, which can be viewed on Comedy Central's streaming platform. Most recently, he appeared in one of the most critically acclaimed movies of 2018, Crazy Rich Asians.
