A VERY SERIOUS OPEN LETTER (FROM A VERY FUNNY FESTIVAL)

Hello,

I’m Sylvain Parent-Bedard, the new owner of Just For Laughs.You don’t know me...which is why I’m reaching out to you today.Over the last few months, the JFL team has dealt with some rocky roads and strange days...but believe me, we’re back. Maybe we’re a little different than we used to be, but we still have the same objective as always—to bring loads of joy to your summer. You’re probably expecting a joke right about here. Well, not today. This letter is serious, and it's about an understanding, a promise, and an offer. Let's get to it.
1) THE UNDERSTANDING
The understanding is our appreciation of the long-standing, extraordinary relationship between Montrealers and Just For Laughs.
For years, you gave our festival the type of unwavering support unheard-of in show business. You filled our clubs and theatres night after night, made big stars out of total unknowns, and through it all, brought a heartfelt spirit that was way more “family” than “customer.”
You were our most dedicated fan base, and we were the year’s biggest party for you. You brought us the attention that made JFL world-renowned.
We respected, relied on, and delivered for each other.
2) THE PROMISE
So here’s the promise: you’re going to really love what we have in store for you this summer. All our shows are top-notch and will make you laugh...louder than ever.
(And frankly, these days, I think we need this, more than ever!)We tried to make each JFL series unique and hilarious, and kept ticket prices reasonable to make it worthwhile to get out of the house to get together with each other...and with us. 3) THE OFFER
So finally, here’s our offer:
We are certain you will love everything our team has put together for you...but especially The Galas, the festival’s crown jewels, our biggest shows.
In fact, we’re so certain that you’ll love our Galas that, if for some reason you don’t, we’re willing to refund your ticket price 100%...pure and simple. (See below for details.)*
TO CONCLUDE...
Still waiting for the punchline? For the twist? For the joke? Sorry...you’ll have to come to the Galas (or any of our shows, for that matter) to get those.
Because you, Montrealers, are so ingrained in our DNA that making sure you’re 100% welcomed, satisfied, content and happy is no joke at all.
