Communications specialist

Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and deploying an effective communication strategy to tell the story of Just For Laughs and Juste pour rire to its various stakeholders including artists, partners, sponsors and audiences. The position will also entail working closely with the HR department to implement internal communications processes and protocols. The ideal candidate will be a natural storyteller with exceptional writing and editing skills in both French and English.

Main Tasks:

  • Working with the Sr. Director of Corporate Communications, develop and deliver the editorial calendar for B2B and B2C communications across all our platforms including social media channels, email newsletters, and website ;
  • Be responsible for creating content to support all communications initiatives for Just For Laughs and Juste pour rire ;
  • Implement and follow processes to ensure that all communications projects are completed in a timely manner, content is correct and approved by all stakeholders ;
  • Support the Sr. Director Communications and the Director of PR & Communications in the writing and editing of multiple communications products including web copy, social media posts, magazines, e-newsletters and press releases ;
  • Support the Director of PR & Communications in the distribution of press releases and the creation of clippings reports ;
  • Work closely with the HR department to draft, edit obtain approvals for and distribute all internal communications, update the intranet and support with all deliverables associated with employee communications initiatives e.g. Town Halls, intranet, posts, internal communications etc, ;
  • All other related tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or a relevant discipline combined with experience in a similar position ;
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a similar position ;
  • Knowledge of using a social media tool like Hootsuite/Sprout highly advantageous ;
  • Prior experience of having used a media monitoring platform like Meltwater/Cision also a plus ;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office ;
  • Knowledge of graphics software an asset ;
  • Excellent command of the French language, spoken and written ;
  • Bilingualism required ;
  • Knowledge of the entertainment and artistic community an advantage.
