In Memory of John Pinette
a Just for Laughs legend...
For 25 years, John Pinette has been entertaining audiences around the world. He enjoyed a long career in stand-up, television, film and on stage. John was legendary not only for his ability to make people laugh but as an exemplary person.
Prior to his untimely death, Just For Laughs was in preparation with his team to produce another cross-Canada tour which was going to focus on John’s 25th anniversary of being a stand-up comic, highlighting his most famous routines and catch phrases. It is with great sadness that we are now highlighting and paying tribute to the end of those hilarious 25 years. He was a genuine person who made us all laugh ‘til we were doubled over – one of the few performers who has that magic. At Just For Laughs, he was the ultimate comedy superstar as not only did he perform to great success at the Montreal festival but he was a touring sensation selling out theatres numerous times throughout Canada and his television shows and appearances on Just For Laughs television series were always highly rated. John performed at all three Just For Laughs’ North American festivals – Montreal, Chicago and Toronto and was the most requested performer by fans throughout Canada. He has performed at the Montreal festival nine times including hosting the galas – twice, was nominated for a Gemini Award for his superb televised performance in 2000 and he still holds the record as the highest selling artist for our one person show series in the history of JFL.
His passion to entertain, his contagious yet mischievous laugh, his genuineness, his smile, his friendship and his great success have made him a master of his craft and a true legend who will always live on at Just For Laughs and in our hearts.
