A billion views on YouTube… really really soon!

The Just For Laughs Gags YouTube channel will reach a billion total views this week, according to statistics from Google Analytics.
 
As of February 8, 2012, Just For Laughs videos have been viewed over 975 million times both on our channel and those of our fans.  We were at 934 million views on January 26!

2011 saw an explosion of views, recording more than 636 million of the 975 million total lifetime views.

In the month of December alone, our videos were seen over 93 million times around the world. By January, more than 148 million views were added to our total. 

At this rate, the billionth view will occur in February… and more precisely this week! If this keeps up, we could potentially reach two billion views by October, or even sooner!

Things started to change in October 2010. Up until that time we had been getting 3 million views per week but the introduction of a new digital strategy helped multiply this number by 10!

During the week of October 25-31, 2010, there were 3.1 million views:

- 442,000 per day,
- 18,000 per hour,
- 308 per minute,
- 5 per second.

By comparison, duringthe week of January 22-28, 2012, there were over 30.1 million views:

- 4.3 million per day,
- 179,000 per hour,
- 2,900 per minute,
- 49 per second!

Our most recent viral success is a video from Just For Laughs Gags that was published on January 3rd, 2012. A month later, it had been seen over 8.8 million times, 7 million of these views came in the first 2 weeks.
