Netflix is bringing together comedians from around the world in a new series of half-hour stand up specials, premiering in 2019. And, we’re filming 32 of these specials at Just for Laughs in Montreal! This summer, grab your chance to see these Netflix specials live before anyone else, and be in the audience for these exciting tapings. With specials filmed in English, French and Arabic, and featuring some of the best comedians from all over the globe.
Riaad Moosa, who is a qualified medical doctor, started doing stand-up comedy while studying at the University of Cape Town Medical School. Being one of the first members of the Cape Comedy Collective, he became a regular headliner on the comedy circuit during his rookie year, where he was also invited to perform on Pieter Dirk Uys’s Evita Live and Dangerous eTV comedy show.
Loyiso Madinga is the first international correspondent for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and it all started from humble beginnings - his rurally raised boy has quickly risen to be a certified international comic. Having started in 2012 when he spent a week at the Teatro and shared the stage with international acts like Tom Segura, Loyiso’s career was on the fast track.
With a comedy career spanning over 11 years and with numerous nominations and awards (including Comic of the Year and Favourite Comedian) under her belt, Tumi Morake continues to be a formidable force in the comedy industry. Since beginning her comedy career in smoky clubs in 2006, she has steadily grown into one of South Africa’s most sought-after comedians, earning her the title of South Africa’s ‘First Lady of Comedy.’
