Sydney, NSW - Nov, 13 2023 - Now on in venues citywide until 21 November, the 11th edition Just For Laughs Sydney looks set to be the biggest edition yet with additional dates and shows just announced, an expanded festival footprint together with record ticket sales in the run up to this popular annual event.
A host of today’s best known international stand up artists are heading to Sydney to join a stellar line up that also features some of Australia’s and New Zealand’s best comedy talent.
Just added to the already jam-packed program is a fifth date for comedy sensation, Bassem Youssef, who has already sold out four shows at the Enmore Theatre. The last chance to grab tickets to see this highly acclaimed Egyptian comedian famously known as the “Jon Stewart of the Arab World,” will be on November 17th at 9:30pm at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.
Another exciting last-minute update to the program is Stamptown, a raunchy and chaotic, full-on fringe experience, late-night variety show that is already a festival favourite at comedy festivals around the world including Just For Laughs LONDON, MONTREAL and Moontower Just For Laughs in Austin. Featuring the best alternative performance on the international scene, Stamptown is hosted by Zach Zucker and takes place at 9:45pm at Grand Electric – one of the festival’s newest venues for this edition.
Other festival highlights already announced include the Just For Laughs All-Star Gala, hosted by Urzila Carlson that features a star-studded line up with some of the world’s top comedians along with some of Australia’s best with performances by Nina Conti, Dara O Briain, Dilruk Jayasinha, Russell Kane, Tommy Little and Joanne McNally.
Also returning for its 10th anniversary edition is festival favourite, Just For Laughs Australia: Live hosted by Melanie Bracewell, star of Channel 10’s The Cheap Seats, that features an incredible line-up of over 30 Australian and International comedians including: Jimeoin Geraldine Hickey, Tom Cardy, Harley Breen, Michael Hing, Catherine Cohen, Joanne McNally, Urzila Carlson, Zoe Coombs Marr, Luke Heggie, Nina Oyama, Joe Daymond, Caroline Rhea, Tommy Little, Nazeem Hussain, Dan Rath, Michelle Brasier, Guy Montgomery, He Huang, Ivan Aristeguieta, Dara O Briain, Becky Lucas, Cameron James, Dilruk Jayasinha, Sam Taunton, Gilian Cosgriff Nina Conti, Kevin Kropinyeri, Bronwyn Kuss, Russell Kane, Daniel Muggleton and Damien Power.
Programmed over three hilarious nights, the show gives audiences the opportunity to catch many top comedians in an intimate setting. Each show features a different line-up. The series is filmed in front of a live audience and is set to air on Network Ten in 2024.
Canadian born comedian, Caroline Rhea, best known for her role on the hit series Sabrina The Teenage Witch will be taping her new show, “I Identify as a Witch” at The Studio at the Sydney Opera House on Wednesday 15 November. Caroline currently stars as the voice of Linda Flynn-Fletcher on the hit Disney Channel show Phineas and Ferb.
