Alonzo Bodden to host popular four-day event between February 15-18, 2023



[Montreal, Canada– November 25, 2023] – Global leader in comedy, Just For Laughs is pleased to announce that the 15th edition of Just For Laughs BERMUDA will take place between February 15-18th, 2023. An all-star lineup is headed to Bermuda to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the popular event, which is returning after three years away.

This year’s festival will be hosted by perennial favourite and honorary Islander, Alonzo Bodden, who has performed at 14 editions of Just For Laughs BERMUDA.

He will be joined by fellow Just For Laughs alumni Tammy Pescatelli and Ivan Decker. Bermuda’s own Jonathan Young, with special guest, Scottish superstar, Danny Bhoy, will round out the line up.

Shows will take place at both the Earl Cameron Theatre and Ruth Seaton James Auditorium.

Tickets go on sale Monday, November 28th at 6:00am



About Alonzo Bodden

A regular panel member on NPR’s Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me, Alonzo Bodden has been making audiences around the country laugh for more than 20 years. 

Alonzo starred in his fourth stand-up special, Heavy Lightweight, which premiered exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. His first big comedy break came when he was on the New Faces of Comedy showcase at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, but it was as the season three winner of NBCʼs Last Comic Standing, where Alonzo was first introduced to America. Since then, he has starred in two comedy specials for Showtime: Historically Incorrect and Who’s Paying Attention. He’s also made appearances on ABC’s Dr. Ken and Fresh Off the Boat, Dr. Phil, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, and Californication.

A car and motorcycle aficionado, Bodden hosted Speed Channel’s 101 Cars You Must Drive and has joined Jay Leno for several off-road trips on his CNBC series Leno’s Garage. He was also a field correspondent on Animal Nation with Anthony Anderson, and a contributor on the Science Channel’s How to Build Everything. Alonzo released his fifth comedy CD titled Man Overboard, and currently hosts the podcast Who's Paying Attention?, where he gives his unique take on what's going on in the world.  

This will be his 14th time hosting Just for Laughs Bermuda!

About Danny Bhoy

Danny began his stand-up career in 1998. A year later he won The Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award,

the biggest national competition in the UK for new comics. In 2001, Danny debuted his first solo show

at the Edinburgh Festival to critical acclaim. Since then, he has continued to build on his stand-up success in the UK, with 10 return visits to the Edinburgh Fringe. In 2014, his show 12 Nights 12 Charities raised £75,000 for local Edinburgh charities. This was followed up with critically acclaimed sell out World Tours.

Since his first visit abroad to the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2003, Danny has become one of the most globally successful and prolific comics working today. He has built up a massive following in Australia, New

Zealand and Canada, where he regularly tours record-breaking shows. Danny’s unique brand of storytelling and razor sharp wit has been described as “effortlessly funny”, and “the stand-up equivalent of Bill Bryson”.

In November 2014 he did his 1st tour of the USA with his critically-acclaimed show Dear Epson. Then Please Untick This Box in 2015. Further barnstorming tours across the globe in 2017 and 2019, culminated in a 7-night, sold out run at the prestigious Sydney Opera House with his last show Age of Fools. 2022 and 2023 sees Danny back on the global comedy circuit again with his brand-new show, Now is Not a Good Time.



About Tammy Pescatelli

Arguably one of the hardest working women in comedy today, Tammy Pescatelli combines brassy sexiness with a bold female voice and witty sarcasm. Tammy Pescatelli’s: Way After School Special hit number 3 on iTunes. She appeared on the highly acclaimed Showtime Comedy Special, Women Of A Certain Age 2 and most recently had a guest star role on Blue Bloods. Tammy is also the host of Circle TV’s standup show Standup Nashville: Live From Zanies.

Tammy’s career jump started after appearing - and being one of the Final 5 - on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Her season played out to more than 18 million viewers and solidified her as one of the sharpest comics in the comedy world. With a slew of other accolades under her belt – including co- creating, executive producing, writing and starring in her own reality show, A Stand-Up Mother– Tammy has appeared on a number of television shows like The View, Jay Leno's Garage, The Howard Stern Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and, her own Comedy Central Presents Special that won that year's Comedy Central's Standup Showdown.

Tammy recently starred as the flawed, yet lovable lead in in That’s Amore- an independent “grown up rom-com” that is available Amazon Prime. Her film credits include Made in Brooklyn, I Am Battle Comic, Single: A Documentary Film and Everybody Wants to Be Italian. She is also a regular on USO Comedy tours.



About Ivan Decker

Known for his sharp, polished, and multi-layered observational comedy, Ivan Decker continues to achieve success as a writer, stand-up, and actor. After being named “A Comic to Watch” at the New York Comedy Festival, Netflix then released his Comedy Special Underwater Scissors to rave reviews.

Ivan made his American television debut on “Conan” and his comedy album I Wanted to be a Dinosaur was the recipient of the JUNO award for “Comedy Album of the Year.” He can also be seen and heard on the popular CBC radio program The Debaters.
