Comedy Conf Drops First Bombshell Announcement:

Red-Hot Louis C.K. is JFL’s Comedy Person of the Year

Montreal, Tuesday, March 8, 2011 – If he were any hotter, he’d probably ignore us, but thankfully Louis C.K., executive producer, writer, director, editor and star of the new FX series, Louie, and perhaps the best stand-up comic on planet earth, will appear at Just For Laughs’ 4th annual Comedy Conference on July 29 to receive its pinnacle prize: the Just For Laughs Comedy Person of the Year.

The C.K. honor will be sandwiched by two headline happenings: a special keynote event by neurotic-and-angry-but-brilliant social critic Marc Maron, and a door-slamming closer by Andy Kindler, who returns with his annual “State of The Industry” address, an event that has many comedians turning in their graves…even those who have not yet died.

Conference delegates will have the chance to vie for their own honors as well at two special participatory pitch events. New partner My Damn Channel (home of original series like You Suck at Photoshop and Wainy Days) will hand out a comprehensive Web development deal that will make you want to pitch ‘til your sides split; details at www.hahaha.com/conference. Meanwhile, the Comedy Bootcamp for Film is back, presented by the 2011 Telefilm Canada Features Comedy Lab, a Canadian Film Centre Film program, in collaboration with Just For Laughs. Eligibility requirements will be available on March 15 at www.cfccreates.com.

The Just For Laughs Comedy Conference runs from July 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency Montreal, but early registration starts now, with Early-Early Bird prices in effect for industry members (you know who you are) until March 25 at www.hahaha.com/conference. The Just For Laughs Comedy Conference is also the Mecca for comedy geeks, a truly unique group of fans and students who either go on to get rich, get famous or get arrested. Choose your destiny with our special Comicpro Pass! Info and registration at: www.hahaha.com/comicpro.

That’s it for now. But keep wearing your body armor. More bombshells dropping soon.
