Esther Povitsky first broke out on to the comedy scene in 2013 when she was selected as one of JUST FOR LAUGHS NEW FACES but this past year has seen her breakout in a whole new way. She heavily recurs on CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Love. Other recent credits include Brooklyn 99, Workaholics, Key & Peele and Lady Dynamite. Her long running podcast (over 120 episodes) Weird Adults with Little Esther is a window into not only what makes Esther tick but also her unique perspective and her inquiring mind. She also hosts the TruTV series Cocktales with Esther – another example of Esther’s off the cuff comedic sensibility.
However, her biggest achievement is just about to launch. She just wrapped shooting the first season of her Freeform show Alone Together. The show will premiere in early 2018 and Esther co-created, executive producers and stars in the series. But it is not just Esther’s comedy creds that make her someone to watch but her leadership in her role on Alone Together as well. She has been a vocal advocate for making sure the writer’s room was at least 50% women and 8 of the additional 9 episodes were directed by women.
